The Priest and the Vatican
October 4, 2015
I am sitting here trying to get a handle on the priest who one, stated he was gay and two, has a partner. More power to him for finding the pride and courage to state his sexual preference, which should have nothing to do with anything or anybody anyway!
What I am not exactly wrapping my head around is that he has a partner. The last time I checked there is this thing called celibacy that the church feels rather strongly about. No? Am I missing something here?
He did not choose his sexuality but choosing to have a partner is a choice within his control. A choice he made after he chose celibacy in joining the priesthood.
So the way I see it is this: he gets one big point for having pride in who he is and one big ZERO for breaking a rule he choose to follow from the get-go.
